In which jobs are protective suits used?

One-piece protective suits are used today in jobs from a cross-section of various industries, protecting the worker's body from dirt, chemical, biological, mechanical or thermal agents. Due to their design, they are an excellent solution in situations where it is difficult to take care of the full tightness of clothing consisting of several separate parts, and exposure of the skin to direct contact with a harmful agent has no right to happen.

Typical protective suits can be divided into disposable and reusable clothing, although within them it would still be necessary to distinguish different levels of protection and the ability to protect a person from contact with a variety of substances. Which suits are encountered most often today and in which jobs they are used.

Working protective suits

One of the first and primary uses of protective suits is in all kinds of physical work that requires the clothing to effectively protect the worker from dirt and light mechanical damage. Most often made of cotton or a combination of cotton and man-made fibers, overalls are ideal for auto mechanics, construction workers, technicians and service technicians who need to have a large supply of tools on hand. The most important features of this type of overalls are, first of all, the increased strength of the seams and material minimizing the risk of damage to the suit, as well as high resistance to difficult dirt (including, among others, car grease). Equipped with numerous pockets and providing the skin with adequate breathability, the work overalls allow to protect the employee's own clothing, while preparing him for fully relaxed work.

An interesting variation of typical damage- and stain-resistant work suits are complete warning suits, which are dedicated to those working on roads or railroads. Made in an intense orange reflective color and equipped with additional tapes reflecting light from afar, the suits ensure excellent visibility of the worker also in difficult weather conditions and after dark, so that any road or construction work can proceed without major problems and risk to the safety of workers.

A special type of protective suits are models that guarantee protection against a variety of chemical, biological, thermal and even electrical substances. Suits of this type are used primarily where there are such hazards - in factories, laboratories, points of disposal of harmful substances, as well as welding or metallurgy.

Disposable suits

Disposable protective suits are primarily the domain of work environments, where the suit, after contact with the workstation, is no longer suitable for reuse due to risks to human health or products. Such suits are used in conditions contaminated with chemicals, asbestos, dust, as well as during agricultural spraying, in heavy industry or in paint and varnish factories.

Disposable coveralls can also perform well in clean rooms and in the production of products that require impeccable cleanliness and sterility, making them used in pharmaceutical production facilities and often in food production. What's more, the specialized materials used in the production of disposable coveralls provide protection against other people's bodily fluids and pathogenic germs, making them suitable for use in hospitals or epidemiological research facilities.

How to choose the right protective suit for the job?

Manufacturers of high-end protective suits approved for use in industrial settings by the relevant health and safety regulations and standards very often mark the suggested uses for their suits, but even without this information, the selection of the right suit for the job should not pose a major problem. The first criterion to pay attention to is, of course, the working conditions of the job and the hazards present there.

Immediately after them, a very important role in the selection of a suit will be played by the worker himself - the suit should be comfortable for him, fitting in terms of size and cut, but also not blocking in any way the free movements during work. It is the comfort of the one-piece suit that causes many employers to forgo providing employees with multi-piece clothing, which can be much more difficult and demanding to fit. One-piece disposable and reusable suits are therefore present virtually everywhere today, providing employees with comfort and full safety in their tasks.
